NOT SAINTs
“The creative arts are particularly effective processes that enable self-discovery, through imagination and storytelling and facilitate participation in supportive social environments. Such activities can create ‘atmospheres’ of recovery that increase wellbeing and contribute to sustained journeys of recovery”
- Dr Cathy Sloane (Creatively Minded and in Recovery 2024)
MUSICAL FUTURES
At Not Saints we know first-hand the benefits that creativity and connection can bring. Whether you've just finished treatment and you're looking for something to fill the void of drugs and alcohol, or you've been sober for a while and you're looking for a new enriching challenge, we can light the creative fire.
Since early 2024 we've been developing our brand new song-writing program Musical Futures. These six session workshops are designed to bring music to life regardless of ability and experience. Professional music tutors with lived experience will teach participants the basics of composition, melody, rhythm, and lyrics.
Available to Lived Experience Recovery Organisations and Drug & Alcohol Services in the UK. Musical Futures is the perfect creative program for clients or service entering recovery or those in their early years. For more information check out the slides or email: Jax@notsaints.co.uk
RECOVERY COMMUNITIES LIVE
In the far-off days of the COVID19 Pandemic Not Saints, with National Lottery funding, launched Recovery Communities Live. This two year program was designed to empower recovery communities around the UK and provide them with the training and tools they need to host their own events, for themselves and their community.
As of 2025 we are relaunching this bespoke course and making it available to services and Lived Experience Recovery Organisations around the UK.
Whether your planning an Open Mic night or the next great Recovery Festival, Not Saints can provide the training, knowledge, and skills you need to elevate your endeavours and provide your community with professionally curated events that will be the talk of the town for years to come.
To date Not Saints have been instrumental in establishing: Bristol Sober Spaces, Saints & Sinners (Manchester), Suffolk Sober Spaces, and Essex Recovery Festival. Not Saints were also stage management and event management advisors for the UK Recovery Walk 2024.
"I so appreciate working with Chris and the team from Not Saints. Communication and making plans is always straight forward, clear and simple! It feels like we’re working towards the same goal, even though we’re from different organisations and have different set ups and priorities and resources sometimes. I appreciate the ease of communication with Chris in particular and really value our professional relationship. May more people benefit from working with Not Saints!"
- Sophie Wilsden, Bristol Sober Spaces / BDP
